Sunset Zoo

Another attraction that has grown over the years in Manhattan, is the Sunset Zoo! It is home to over 200 animals. They take excellent care of the animals and guests and you can be a part of the experience by watching the daily feedings and animal encounters, where you will learn more about the animals personalities and preferences.

In addition to animals, the Sunset Zoo features many spectacular garden spaces that is a must while you’re visiting. The Master Gardener’s Butterfly Garden features native plants that attract a variety of butterflies. At the Pat Freeman’s Hummingbird Garden, you can catch glimpses of hummingbirds as they flutter from plants to feed. The Rain Gardens are full of native plants and wells that collect and hold water runoff. The water can then slowly seep into the ground, naturally refreshing plants, recharging underground water supplies and helping to avoid erosion issues downstream. Lastly, The Town & Country Garden Club’s Sensory Garden is designed to engage all the senses. Most notable is the garden’s caterpillar planter feature and it’s a great spot to rest during your visit.
